The
Cascade
Everybody
starts his or her juggling "career" by learning the Cascade. It is the
basic move and is really quite simple (once you know how!). Now, the
way to learn is to start with 1 ball, if you try to juggle three straight
off you'll only mess it all up and get frustrated!
OK…on
with the lessons:
Lesson
1
1.
Pick up one
ball and place it in your dominant hand (Your left hand if you're left
handed…your right hand if you're right handed).
2.
Throw
the ball to your other hand in an arc (see Figure 1). Use a scooping
action to throw it, letting go of the ball towards the middle of your
body and catching it near the outside of your body. The ball should
peak at about eye height. Don't worry if you throw it higher for now,
you'll learn to control the ball better as the lesson continues.

3.
Now throw the ball back to your other hand and continue to do this until
you can do it without too much trouble. Eventually you should be able
to throw from hand to hand without looking at your hands. Just look
ahead and watch the ball as it peaks at eye level. If you're throwing
the ball correctly, it should just "fall" into your hand.
4.
Tips: Keep your hands low when you catch the ball. You shouldn't be
catching a ball any higher than your chest.
5.
When you can do this for at least 10 throws move on to lesson 2.
Lesson
2
1.
Pick up a ball in each hand and hold them at the base of your hand with
your little finger and ring finger.
2.
Pick up the remaining 3rd ball and as in Lesson 1, throw it from hand
to hand (see Figure 2).

3.
The purpose of this exercise is so that you get a feel for having that
extra ball in your hand….this will help later on.
4.
When you can do this for about a dozen throws you are ready for Lesson
3.
